I have heard that finding magazines for those things is a pain in the rear. There was one for sale with side folding tube stock, but alas it was sold. I have been trying to find a Valmet in 223 as well. Like I wrote I'm the process of making a folding stock hinge for the rifle, I have 3D-models ready that I drew based on the Rk95TP sidefolder hinge.Īctually the funny thing is that the Valmet M62S in the picture has stampings for "Valmet Tourulan tehdas" (Valmet Tourula factory) and "Interarms Virginia, Alexandria" eventhough much to my knowledge the rifle never left Finland.

So I figure Sako didn't want to mess up their sales too much by introducing a rifle that was too "short" that only few people could own.īut nowadays the gun length requirement has switched to 600mm (23.62 inches.) So it is possible to have a folding stock. Reason for the fixed stock is that the rifles were made mostly for Finnish civilian market and it used to be that the minimum rifle length was 800mm (31.49inches.) Rifles that were shorter than this were technically allowed, but in practice it was really hard to get a gun license for these type of "short rifles." The Finnish Defense Force RK95 rifle has a folding stock after all. They usually have the fixed stock like in the picture. The rifle is a rare one too, because not too many were made with the folding stock. I think the M62S and other earlier Valmet rifles were imported way more at least before the Clinton era bans.Īt least there is this video where Larry shoots an imported Sako M92S.

I think some were imported, but not a whole lot.
